Course creation FAQ
Is there a limit on the number of courses I can create?
There is no limit on the number of courses you can create.
Are certificates available?
Coassemble does not currently offer certificates.
Can I add a screen where my learners/audience can write a reflection?
Coassemble doesn’t currently offer a dedicated screen for learner reflections and cannot generate this kind of screen using our AI functionality. Instead, we recommend using the Embed screen to integrate tools like Google Forms or Typeform. These platforms are purpose-built for collecting responses and embed seamlessly into your course, giving you flexibility and control over the data you collect.
Can I combine courses that I have made?
Currently, combining courses is a manual process. You’ll need to copy the content from one course and recreate the additional screens in the other course.
Can I create a quiz outside of a course?
No. A Quiz is a screen type, so sits within a course.
Can I download my course?
Because Coassemble courses are interactive, cloud-based experiences, they are designed to deliver dynamic content, including quizzes, multimedia, and engagement features that can’t be fully captured in a static document format. As a result, downloading a course as a PDF or other document file isn’t available.
Can I have a screen with 2 columns? In 1 column I have the text, and in the other I put a video?
No. Our screens are all designed to present a small amount of information at a time (e.g. a singular video). This is done intentionally to reduce the cognitive load placed on learners and to not overwhelm them at any given time. We have also designed our screens to be mobile responsive; therefore, we have some limitations on design customization.
Can I transfer my courses from one account/workspace to another?
Currently, it’s not possible to directly transfer courses between Coassemble accounts. If you need a course to be available in a different account, you’ll need to recreate it manually in that account.
Can I use translations?
Translations is available on selected plans. If you’d like to speak to one of our team about upgrading your plan to access translations, please send through an enquiry and one of our team will be in touch.
Can we add audio?
Our Narrations feature allows you to generate voiceovers for your content. You can also add audio to any screen by accessing the text editor toolbar. You'll be able to see a speaker icon. Click on the speaker icon, and you can then upload an audio file such as a .mp3, .wav and .ogg. Coassemble cannot generate audio at this stage.
Can you build a branching scenario?
Coassemble does not have a branching scenario screen available.
Do I need to include a title for all screens?
No, you can either hide a title by selecting the visibility icon on the right-hand side of the screen and deselecting the title option, or leave the title blank and it won't appear on the learners' view.
Does Coassemble allow us to host the documents that we upload to create the courses and let users access those documents for reference if need be?
Our platform does allow for a Document screen where you can place a downloadable version of your reference material. The screen hosts the document on our servers and allows the learner to download a copy if that is the intention. To do this, you will need to add a Document screen to your course and then upload your file within that screen. You may choose to have this reference material at the start or end of your course.
How do I remove the Coassemble logo on my courses?
To be able to remove the Coassemble logo, simply upgrade your plan. You will then be able to showcase your own logo.
How do I save my course content while I am creating my course?
Coassemble automatically saves your work as you create your course, so you never have to worry about losing progress.
Is it possible to change the font of my courses for branding purposes?
At present, Coassemble offers a selection of predetermined fonts that you can choose from to align with your brand. You can find these options in Course settings when customizing your course. You can also upload custom fonts on certain plans.
Is there an undo button?
You will find our Undo and Redo buttons at the top of your screen when editing your course. You can also undo and redo most actions while editing by using your keyboard shortcuts:
- Mac: Press Command (⌘) + Z to undo, or Command (⌘) + Shift + Z to redo.
- Windows: Press Ctrl + Z to undo, or Ctrl + Y (or Ctrl + Shift + Z) to redo.
Keep in mind that these undo/redo actions only apply to your current editing session. If you refresh the page, leave the course, or close your browser, your undo/redo history will be cleared.
If you are using certain features, like refine text, you will have access to an Undo button. Each time you use refine, you’ll instantly see the updated text and have the option to keep the new version or undo the change. If you like the refined version, simply click 'Keep'—your content is updated! But if you prefer your original text, you can easily undo by selecting 'Undo'. Once you select 'Keep', you cannot then decide to 'Undo'.
What are the file size limits and course size limits for course modules?
When creating a course using AI, there is a 50MB file size limit for document transformation. For optimal learner experience, it's recommended to keep courses under 20 screens in length. Creating multiple shorter, bite-sized learning modules is an effective approach for organizing course content. In regards to video content, we suggest ensuring videos are 6 minutes or less, as research shows this is where learners drop off from viewing. Be mindful of image sizes and sizes of files embedded, as these will impact load times for your viewers loading the course.
What is the ideal file size/ratio for uploading my logo?
We recommend using a logo with a 1:1 ratio. While we don't have specific recommendations on size, using your logo in SVG format is the best option, as size will make no difference.
Where can I add videos to my course?
To include video in your course, choose the Video screen when adding a new screen. This screen is designed specifically to host video content, whether you’re uploading a file (available on paid plans) or pasting a link from platforms like YouTube or Vimeo. This screen is purpose-built to display video beautifully across all devices and gives learners the best experience with clear playback and responsive sizing.
You are not able to upload videos within image containers on other screens. You are also not able to add videos inline in text.
What does the "Regenerate" button do when creating a course outline?
The Regenerate button creates a new version of the course outline with different content. This is useful if the AI Assistant’s first attempt isn’t quite right but heading in the right direction. All of the screen titles will update to reflect the new content.
