Link analytics

Link insights show you how learners are engaging with a course they've opened through a Coassemble share link: viewers, completion rate, where they drop off, and per-learner progress, for a date range you choose. It's the default view when you open Insights on a course.

When you share a course with a Coassemble link, the activity from people opening that link is captured as Link insights. This is the data that tells you whether a course you've shared is being viewed, completed, and held learners' attention. It's separate from SCORM usage, which tracks a course once it's been exported and hosted in another system.

Open Link insights

1. Go to Courses and find the course you want to review.
2. Click Insights on the course card, beneath the course title.
3. The Insights window opens on the Link insights tab by default.
4. Set the date range in the top-right (for example all time, or a custom range) and the data updates to match.

If you don't see any data yet, you'll be prompted to share the course, since insights only start collecting once people open the link.

What Link insights show you

• Course summary. The headline numbers for your date range: total viewers and the overall completion rate.
• Progression funnel. How many viewers make it through each screen of the course, so you can see where they drop off. Hover over a bar in the chart to see the exact number of viewers at that screen.
• Individual usage. A per-learner list showing who viewed the course, how long they spent, and their progress.

Reading the results

Start with the summary to see whether enough people who open the link are finishing. If completion is low, use the progression funnel to find the screen where viewers fall away, then check individual usage to see whether it's a broad pattern or specific learners. Comparing date ranges shows whether changes you've made are improving things.

Link analytics in your own product (Embed)

If you deliver a course through Embed rather than a share link, the equivalent engagement data comes back through the tracking API and the read-only analytics components, so you can show it inside your own product.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't I see any link data?

Insights only start collecting once a course has been opened through a shared link. If you've just shared it, give it time for people to view it, or check you've shared the link at all. You may also want to check that you have appropriately adjusted the date filter for your data.

How is this different from SCORM usage?

Link insights cover people opening a course through a Coassemble share link. SCORM usage covers a course after it's been exported and hosted in another system, and is shown on a separate tab.

Can I change the time period?

Yes. Use the date dropdown in the top-right to switch between ranges such as all time or a custom range.
